Last week I found an injured bird on Palm Beach on the edge of the Holiday Inn property, he had taken shelter in George's Watersports Hut. He could hardly move, and was there for a few days, got moved to the bushes, I asked the landscaper and he said he called some rescue place but no one came. I left him water and some bread, etc.
Then over the weekend he disappeared, come Monday morning the 12th, I found him walking ( I am pretty sure it is the same bird) he could only walk but looked much better, he seemed to thank me for helping him, and walked with me a while, and I last saw him on Monday walking towards Pelican Pier.
EDITORS: Sadly, this is an injured Royal Tern that was wintering on Aruba. Some Royal Terns that winter on Aruba migrate down from the U.S. where they nest. Others may come from the apparently relatively small population that nests on Bonaire and some offshore Venezuelan islands. We appreciate A.M. Hartman's efforts on behalf of this unfortunate bird and we hope that it recovered.
