Black-faced Grassquit
Tiaris bicolor
Another small bird common throughout
the island is the Black-faced Grassquit. Keep an eye open around
the hotels, because you may not hear them—this species
is quiet and unobtrusive and could be overlooked if you aren’t
on the look-out for it. Males are a dull greenish color on the
back with black undersides. Females are browner overall with
lighter underparts. Both males and females sing.
