BARE-EYED PIGEON
Columba corensis
The striking blue ring of flesh around
the eye, surrounded by black "goggles," gives the
Bare-eyed Pigeon a distinctive, perhaps a somewhat comical appearance.
The bird is gray-brown overall. Notice a contrasting light-colored
bill. Watch for the Bare-eyed Pigeon’s distinctive white
wing patches in flight.
Watch this short video clip of a vocalizing Bare-eyed Pigeon that we filmed from the Bubali tower on Aruba in November 2011.
